2013 in Review, Part III: Events & Industry Highlights

Howdy, folks. We're back for our last installment of our 2013 look back. Today we're taking a walk down memory lane with 2013 events and industry highlights from Engage!, Wish Upon a Wedding and the annual market parties hosted by media powerhouses, Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot.

Engage!13 at The Biltmore Estate

It’s no secret that I’m probably one of the biggest fans of the Engage! Conferences; which is magically orchestrated by the dynamic duo that is Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce (see my post covering the event last year).

I attend every year to literally ‘engage’ with the industry’s finest and keep a pulse on market trends in demographics, technology, and design in the wedding luxury space. Here are a few photos from the event I attended in June at the breathtaking Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.

It may be January, but we’re already looking forward to the next one in June in Beaver Creek Colorado! Hope to see you there!

Wish Upon A Wedding

In 2012, I joined an elite group of wedding industry pros to help launch the New York Chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding. I’m so proud to be a part of this group, doing good and bringing joy to those who need it most.

WISH UPON A WEDDING celebrates the courage, spirit and determination of couples facing the most challenging time of their lives. Our organization provides these individuals the opportunity to say “I do” in a heartfelt and memorable environment, in front of their family and friends, when their medical and financial circumstances would have made it otherwise impossible.

THE NEW YORK CHAPTER, serving the Northeast, provides weddings at no cost to couples facing a terminal illness or other life-altering circumstance. It is with the compassion and support of the wedding industry and our generous donors that we can fulfill the wishes of these couples as they cope with unthinkable circumstances and celebrate their love.

Our first wish was a 10-year vow renewal granted to a most deserving couple, Sarah & Colin Rankin, of Portsmouth, NH. See their story and watch this uplifting, tear-jerker video of Sarah & Colin's romance:

Bridal Market Parties hosted by Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot

October means Bridal Market, and Bridal Market means attending the glitz and glam-filled parties hosted by Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot. They’re always on the same night (which strangely works out perfectly) and hopping from Martha to the Knot to the after parties is as normal as going from a cocktail hour, to a wedding to an after party. Here are few of my favorite moments captured this year...

My obsession with ABC's The Bachelorette, became very real when I ran into the Bachelorette herself, Desiree Hartsock, who’s getting married to her beau Chris Siegfried. She’s a total doll and we ended up chatting a bit (and I couldn’t unceremoniously part ways without being a ham and asking for a photo… here’s one I’ll cherish always!)
