Thanks, Amanda! Ok, let us first come clean: we’ve given in. In our minds summer has arrived in all its sunny glory and we’re so excited to get outdoors, to hit the sand and to entertain al fresco. For us entertaining during the warm summer months {as well as the crisp autumn, cozy winter and fresh summer months} is all about going the effortless route but creating tastes, sights and delights that will impress your guests with accents of luxury and ultimate comfort. Mixing and matching old with new, glamorous with casual and simple with decadent will allow you to enjoy entertaining and your guests.
We know neighborhood block parties are a huge hit in many neighborhoods during the summer. Our al fresco dessert tray is a spin on that. Make your house the last stop on the block party tour, or invite neighbors over for a twilight dessert on your patio or in your home. We used a vintage silver tray, good white bistro napkins and heavy bistro glasses with quirky silverware to put this dessert party together. A vibrant sunset hibiscus flower anchored our tray. It’s all about the pops of color – sunflowers, hibiscus, irises and big garden roses do the trick.

We whipped up our Bubbly Lemon Sorbet dessert and it’s sure a crowd pleaser. We think a refrigerator should always be stocked with a chilled bottle of champagne for on-a-whim celebration, no matter what the time of year. Keep sorbet in your freezer this summer and you’ll be ready to create this deliciously refreshing dessert.
You’ll need: a good bubbly {champagne, sparkling wine, prosecco or your favorite cava will do} | lemon sorbet {blood orange, raspberry and any flavorful fruit works just as well}
Spoon a heaping scoop of sorbet into a low ball bistro glass like so.

Top the sorbet with your bubbly until it reaches the rim of the glass.

Adjust your flowers and you’re ready to entertain guests with a refreshing summer dessert.
