Registry Style Profile: Classic
24 Oct 2012
Howdy, folks. Kate Imbach here to take you on a spin through our Classic Registry Collection!
First, in case you don’t already know, we launched our Registry Style Profiles last week, our newest way to help couples create a gift registry that reflects their personal style. We’ve drawn from our collection of more than 50 chic and unique boutiques, brands and artisans to create our first set of six styles: Modern, Retro, Classic, Eclectic, Preppy and Green.
The feedback we’ve received has been super positive. Couples are often overwhelmed by the entire registry process and our style collections have really helped to them to 1) identify what their style is as a couple, and 2) get them started on thinking about the types of things they want and need for their home. The Registry Style Profiles are a good way to get started, but one key piece of advice I have is to not be limited to just one style. Perhaps you’re a classic couple with a retro twist? These style guides are just that, a guide to help you navigate the registry options and hone in on the things that speak to you. You can browse all the styles here and let me know what catches your eye! I’m happy to provide any style advice that you might need and we have a great group of wedding and interior design experts that are happy to help, too.
So, with that, let’s have some fun exploring our Classic Collection and some great advice from The Bridal Bar, The Stylish Bride and NEAT Method!

Classic homes are always sophisticated and elegant, but who wants to live in a museum? Today’s classic couple embraces traditional elegance but ditches the white gloves. By thoughtfully weaving together the old and the new, you can easily create a home that is both refined and relaxed.
Here are some of my key inspirations when I think of a Classic home: Pearls, clawfoot tubs, wainscoting, wedding china, champagne and tea. Antiques, 19th-century paintings, and richly textured upholstery. Vintage Chanel, Chippendale. The Duchess of Cambridge, Grace Kelly. What comes to your mind?
Beautiful sterling silver Love Knots characterize the elegant Vera Wang Love Knots collection. A slender profile of fine crystal is offset by a silver-plated base accented with a delicate bow.
Blissliving Belgravia White Duvet Set | Yellow Chevron Throw Pillow by Luxury Monograms | Vase w/ Column Beads – Frances Palmer Handmade Collection | Vera Wang Love Knots Toasting Flute Pair | Vera Wang Love Knots Cake Knife and Server Set | Pressed Glass Cake Stands in Milk by Fishs Eddy | Audrey Hepburn by Gregory Kirschenbaum | photo credit: Christian Oth Studios
I also love the idea of adding some pieces to your registry that you can use on your wedding day. What great memories they will hold when you use them again and again. So, consider a pair of toasting flutes, a cake serving set and even a cake stand when registering.
Words of Wisdom from the Experts
We asked some of our in-the-know friends from the wedding, interior design and organizational services worlds to pick the style they like best. Here are some words of wisdom and handy tips from our Classic Style profile lovers – The Bridal Bar, The Stylish Bride and NEAT Method!
The Bridal Bar: I’ve always had a bit of a classic sensibility (I love a traditional white wedding). But living in Los Angeles that style has taken on a few different shades of sparkle and bo-ho mixed within a traditional look of comfort, sophistication and home. Think sequins paired with soft fabrics or an unexpected pop of color in an otherwise muted clean and even old world space. Whether designing my living space or helping couples design their dream day, a residential warmth and familiarity of home is important to me and I find that the classic patterns, shapes and textures fulfill that best – each with its own twists of course. – Harmony Walton
The Stylish Bride: To me, ‘classic style’ is a love for things that are timeless and sophisticated. Wheather it’s a gold monogram necklace or the perfect handbag, I am drawn to items that will never go out of style. I often think about passing things down to my children and grand children, so I make sure when I select things that not only will they stand the test of time, but that I’ll love them for just as long. – Julie Sabatino
Here are some of my picks for classic accessories:

Bride-to-Be Studs | Gold Disc by sonyarenne | Adirondack clutch by Lyndsey Hamilton for Fleabags
NEAT Method: If you haven’t already done so, moving in together is going to be an adjustment. No longer will it be acceptable to leave your beauty products consuming the bathroom, decorate in any sort of feminine matter, or enjoy appetizers and dessert for dinner. Changes must be made and trust us, it is for the best!
Among other things, you will be combing your belongings to start a new life together. And when this happens, registering is going to be your lifesaver! Now is the time to pick the items that reflect both your styles and will help you to functionally live together.
Since we are the gals of all things organized, we’ve picked a few of our favorite “Classic” items to register for at NewlyWish. These items are a MUST and will help both you and your significant other have a fresh start together.
Domicile Walnut & Grey Linen Cabinet: Everything always looks better behind closed doors! This piece is great to hold either clothes in the bedroom or linens in the hall. Regardless, it never hurts to have more storage – and who wouldn’t love such a beautiful piece in their home?!
Cooking Classes: Cooking for two is definitely one of the bigger challenges in living together. It can be super easy to overbuy or underestimate. A cooking class can help you both determine a typical serving size for two. By learning how to cook for two, you will be able to save money by understanding what you need and also enjoy a lovely meal together in the process!
The Honeymooners: After planning one of the most important days of your life, the last thing you want to do is worry about the details of traveling. This Honeymooners package includes all of the essentials and will help you both stay organized in the process! – Molly Graves
So, what do you think? Does ‘classic’ fit your style profile? What do you think of our picks, is there anything we’ve missed? Have a look through our full collection here and let us know. And, as always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or ideas, leave a comment below and we’ll get back to you.
Thanks again, and happy registering.
