Tastemaker Tabletop Collection: City Chateau

Today we’d like to introduce you, dear blog readers, to the first of our Tastemaker Tabletop Collections – ‘City Chateau’, styled by Mayra Castillo and Xochitl Gonzalez, founders of AAB Creates.

As we mentioned in our introductory post [here], we wanted to come up with a new way for our clients to include dinnerware in their registry without having to rely solely on pre-set collections that consist of a single pattern.  We want you to be able, for every part of your registry, to include items that you love, need, will use, and that truly reflect your personal style.  In looking around the market, we found that, while many people are talking about mixing-and-matching dinnerware patterns, there’s no simple, straightforward way to do it online, and so we came up with our Registry Re-Patterned initiative to offer pre-mixed collections that couples can add directly to their registries or to serve as inspiration and get you started on creating your own look.

And to help us in this project, we’ve enlisted group of renowned wedding industry tastemakers, each of whom is sought after for their style and design expertise, and asked them to create mix-and-match tablesettings that reflect their own signature style, using Waterford Wedgwood fine china and crystal as the raw materials.

The collection we’re showcasing today was styled by Mayra Castillo and Xochitl Gonzalez of AAB Creates, one of NYC’s most sought-after event design firms, known for creating unique and beautiful experiences for their clients.  We love the easy style of this collection – it’s equally at home in an informal al-fresco lunch setting or a chic formal dinner.

But let’s let Mayra and Xochitl tell the story… Our inspiration for this collection was the modern couple, who makes hosting an art form and enjoys sophisticated entertaining with casual ease and warmth. The couple whose table is the one everyone wants to dine at.

The combination of the exquisite floral and bird designs set against the white plates with platinum banding, creates a thoroughly modern aesthetic, but one that exudes a warm, natural feel.

This modern feel extends to the Baroque serving pieces, with their nod to classical shapes but rendered in crisp, modern white. And the mixture of three Waterford stemware glasses, though different silhouettes, are harmoniously brought together by the diamond pattern and strokes of the ballet ribbon to give a clean, elegant, modern feel of this collection.

And for those of you wondering, Mayra and Xochitl’s collection makes use of three patterns for the placesetting: Vera Wang Flirt, Jasper Conran Chinoiserie in Green and Platinum, and the Jasper Conran Platinum Baroque for the charger. They’ve included three glassware patterns:  Waterford Ballet Ribbon Champagne Flute, Lismore Essence Platinum Goblet and the Araglin Platinum Goblet, and the serving accessories come from the Jasper Conran Baroque and Platinum Collections.  You can check out their full collection here to purchase, add directly to your registry, or serve as inspiration for you to build your own, unique collection.

With that, we’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to  Mayra & Xochitl, for giving us a peek into your design inspiration and thank you all for joining us today.  Be sure to stay tuned for more on our Tastemaker collections – later this week, we’ll dive into the beauty behind Abby Larson’s Vintage Chic collection.

In the meantime, we’d love to know what you think about the City Chateau Collection and your thoughts on mix-and-matching dinnerware.
