Registry Tip: Green Your Registry
Being more eco-concious is no longer just a fad, it’s a way of life. Many people set out to live completely eco-friendly lifestyles, and this includes planning the perfect environmentally conscious event. But when it comes to the gifting, it can sometimes be difficult to create a registry and receive gifts while still being “green.” Here are a few quick tips on how to create an eco-registry. Whether you use them all or just one, you’ll be doing your part to help the environment.
- Eco-products: Find a few eco-friendly alternatives to some of your registry must haves and sprinkle them into your wish list (you’d be surprised at the great selection out there!)
- Lose the gift wrap: Take green-ing your registry one step further by requesting that your guests do not gift wrap.
- Reduce shipping: See if your stores will allow you to do in store pickup or hold your items so they can be shipped all at once. This will help reduce your carbon footprint. After all, who needs each plate purchased individually shipped one at a time?

I hope this helps get your started! Be sure to return every Tuesday where I will share more tips and ideas, that will help you create a registry that you love.
Best wishes and happy registering,
Amanda

Amanda, Have you found any major retailers that will actually hold your items so they can be shipped all at once? This would be ideal for the eco-friendly bride, I just don’t see it anywhere yet.
Thanks!
Hi Emily,
Thanks for your note. While it’s not a common upfront offer by department stores, it doesn’t hurt to ask to see if they can make special arrangements for you. I know with smaller retailers (and those we work w/ at NewlyWish), as long as you communicate your needs from the onset, 9 times out of 10, they will accommodate your requests.
Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Amanda
