Here are some of our inspirations when we think of a retro styled home: 1950’s polka dots and atomic red, 1960’s vivid mod prints, 1970’s harvest gold and avocado, 1980’s pink pastels. Words of Wisdom from the Experts
To give you some insight from the experts, we asked our style savvy wedding pros (and retro-style lovers) to share their favorite picks. Please join us in welcoming Christy Weber from Junebug Weddings, Lyndsey Hamilton from Lyndsey Hamilton Events and Sofia Crokos from Sofia Crokos Events.
Christy Weber, the Co-Founder and Executive Editor of Junebug Weddings picked out a few of her favorite home decor pieces that fit her retro style. She says:
"Cooking with good knives makes all the difference in the world, and the MKS knives below are just that, plus they are so fun to display for a burst of color in the kitchen. I also love these Toddy Bird napkins - who wouldn't love to be given a drink or snack with one of these gorgeous napkins along side? And this Jonathan Tufted Stool is simply the epitome of chic decor, and so useful too! In small living spaces, or in large ones, having quick extra seating options is always a plus."
"I am always inherently drawn to "retro" pieces, with my favorite aesthetic being mid-century modern. The architecture and design from Eames to Neutra are so inspiring. The era was so distinct and identifiable. The clean lines and functionality of the pieces is so beautiful while remaining utilitarian. Here are a few selections that remind me of quintessential mid-century California modernism" - Lyndsey Hamilton
"In my personal life, I am infamous for paying "homage" to the stylish decades of the past. I love taking chances and mixing what I have in the closet and I do the same when it comes to entertaining at home or for my clients. Consider incorporating the simplicity of the Vera Wang China with these robust candle holders to add some "retro" in the mix. And of course, no party is complete without an eye-pleasing, music sound system to really make the night a hit!"
